One hundred years ago, in December 1916, the church building in Kafulafuta was opened for public worship. Here we commemorated the 100 years of the existence of the church building in Kafulafuta and unveiled the new headstone on the grave of Pastor Paul Kasonga. It was a historic occasion!

Kafulafuta Church Building

The Kafulafuta Baptist mission was first established in 1905. Zambia, then, was a British protectorate under the supervision of the King of England—King George the Sixth.

In 1905, The missionaries—Arthur Philips and Henry Masters, walked 1200km all the way from Malawi to the Copperbelt and established the first Baptist missionary post in Kafulafuta some 30km outside modern day Ndola.

On 2nd July 1913, Joseph Doke and his 20 year old son Clement Doke left Johannesburg to do the first exploratory visit of Kafulafuta Mission.
